The following data comes from the 2008 BART station profile survey. The data shows information about stations based on passengers who consider that station their home. For example, if you’re looking at the gender tree map below, the first box shows the gender breakdown of those who consider Embarcadero their home station. We’ll call these “home station riders”.
Gender
Interestingly, our data led us to the finding that more women ride BART than men. The following tree map (yes, that’s what it’s called even if it doesn’t look like a tree) is colored by ratio of women to men (more blue equals more women). The size of the box shows average weekday riders for the same year, 2008.
